I was introduced to Ryan Lee a couple of years ago. A mutual friend knew that I was thinking about changing my career trajectory and suggested that I look him up. When I did, I was impressed. The dude knows what he is talking about.
Ryan is the founder of Freedym, a Netflix-style website dedicated to lifestyle entrepreneurs who are looking to start online businesses. It has over 1,000 hours of training material that teaches a budding entrepreneur anything from building membership sites, coaching groups, print newsletters, etc.
Ryan is no slouch. He started his first fitness website in 1999, back in the stone age of the Internet, while working full-time at a children's hospital in New York. Since then, he has been building business after business after business. Some more successful than others. All of them led to who he is today.
To date, Ryan and his coaching clients have generated around $3 billion in sales. Not only that, he is a contributor to Entrepreneur, and has been featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal.
If his achievements aren't impressive enough, he now works less than 8 hours a day from a coffee shop while making a heck of a lot more money than the rest of us. He arrives at the coffee shop by 7am, orders a latte, and gets to work with his remote team.
He'll work out during lunch and eat a big salad in order to keep his energy high. Then in the afternoons, he usually conducts interviews or coaching calls from his sweet looking '80s man cave filled with signed movie posters and record albums.
By the time 3pm rolls around, he shuts off his computer and spends the rest of the day being a dad and a husband. He really enjoys coaching his kids' sports teams. To him, family is always first. That's why he isn't tied down to an office working for someone else. He has mastered the art of being an online entrepreneur.
It just seems like he has the best setup ever. Perhaps he does.
I know this is starting to sound like an ad. It isn't. Ryan didn't pay me to gush about him. He's just really that good at his job.
I've been a member of Freedym for two years now, and it has been one of the best investments on myself that I've ever made. It's way cheaper than business school, too. Not that I'm bitter about the six-figure tuition or anything.
I've also made quite a few friends from the group who all share similar ambitions as me. I love talking to them about anything and everything that has to do with building an online business and leaving the rat race. They've inspired me to keep doing what I'm doing, to keep on pursuing my location independent career.
I couldn't be happier being a part of the Freedym family.
P.S. Ryan was gracious enough to be my guest at Work Anywhere Summit, where he opened up about his past and talked about why he does what he does. Hop on over to Work Anywhere Summit to watch his presentation along with presentations from many other successful location independent professionals. They share their personal stories as well as actionable strategies you can take today in order to take control of your career and become location independent.
